This week I take you to the new AMPM Café and Bar in DLF Phase 4, Gurgaon.
The brainchild of famous restaurateur Rajan Sethi, the AMPM Café and Bar is a welcome change from the usual run-of-the-mill cafés and bars thronging the busy DLF Galleria market in Gurgaon.
[Soft launch of the AMPM Café and Bar took place in December last year; however, the bar was fully operational only from January 21, 2017, after the liquor license was obtained.]
The 120-seater cafe offers the best of Continental, American, Mexican, Italian, and Indian fusion cuisines. Credit for the innovative casual and comfort food goes to Executive Head Chef Satish Kumar who has been with the parent company 'Bright Hospitality' for one and a half years.
[The menu at AMPM gets a facelift every four months.]
True to its name, AMPM operates as a café during the day and transforms into a bar at sundown. Music forms the very core of this outlet, providing ample opportunity for new and upcoming artists to showcase their talent while allowing others to let their hair down.
I was told that a musical night is on every day to keep things alive and kicking; gear up to witness Live Acoustics on Wednesday, Retro on Thursday, Girls' Night Out on Friday, Soft Rock and Pop on Saturday, and Jazz and Blues on Sunday. A different band is showcased every second and fourth Saturday of the month. You can even request DJ Prince to spin your favorite tracks. How cool is that!
Open every day from 8 am, the café is known to sell more shakes than cocktails. Don't believe me? Try their Magnum Upside Down!
You can also enjoy a range of baked products, plus a variety of teas and coffees from across the world.
Looking for some recommendations? Start with the delectable AMPM Chaat followed by the Samosa Crumble.
I would also urge you to try the American classic Meat Balls served with spaghetti and marinara sauce ... and Black Bean and Vegetable Burritos served on a bed of Mexican rice with tomato salsa and sour cream.
For the mains, settle in for the Butter Chicken Slider and Her Majesty's Favorite which is beer batter fried fish served with chips, mashed peas, and tartar.
Leaving the outlet without tasting the sumptuous waffles is tantamount to an admission of cardinal sin; you've gotta taste the Nutella stuffed with blueberry compote.
One of the other highlights at AMPM is the cocktail menu designed by renowned mixologist and entrepreneur, Yangdup Lama. My favorite drink is the "Luscious Lucy", which essentially is a large pool of gin where fresh lime, mint, ginger, and kaffir lime play in abandon. Savor it slowly as the lady kicks really hard!
The bar also has a plethora of exciting mocktails, cocktails, beers, wines, and much more. Be reminded that the happy hours last from 12 pm to 7 pm every day.
The best high street market certainly deserves a top-notch place like this, where people can share their incessant love for good food and music over and over again.
