In this blog post, I cover Café We, a new quirky space in the capital with classic influences.
My search for the quintessential French Cafe has just ended with Café We! Open to the connoisseurs of fine-dining on April 12 this year, Café We offers the perfect ambiance to relax and unwind over a stylish meal; it's the sort of place where design meets food and art.
A symphonic collaboration between restaurateur Varun Gupta and Beyond Designs, Café We is the place to dine in style. The cafe serves multi-cuisine food with world flavors.
Resembling a modern-day, sophisticated French bistro with large black windows, Café We impresses from the word go. The main dining area is beautifully lit with chandelier-clad ceilings, walls lined with antique paintings, intricate charcoal flooring, and plenty of wooden paneling.
And while you're at it, look out for the exclusive 'cozy couch' if you need a lil privacy ... if coming with a group, ask for the private dining room a.k.a. the Chef's Table. The icing on the cake is the free WiFi available round the clock!
Walk inside the 2300 square feet cafe to step into a world of your own. With 52 covers and a sprawling 8000 square feet retail outlet next door, there are plenty of mysteries to unravel and endless possibilities to explore at Café We.
Enjoy your morning tea on the way to work or stop in for a quick bite ... catch up with a friend over lunch or surprise your sweetheart with a candlelit dinner. From jet-setters to writers, Café We strikes a chord with all, through its welcoming selection of treats for everyone to enjoy.
Open every day from 11 A.M. to 11 P.M., the cafe introduces a brand new bespoke menu with exciting offerings. I absolutely loved the signature Tomato Beet Consommé Soup, a clear broth bursting with flavors extracted from sweet tomatoes and herbs, accompanied with onion-poppy seeds twisty and multigrain rolls. Another favorite is the Pro-Fit-Loss Salad, a chilled crispy mix of lettuce, topped with delicately blanched vegetables.
After whetting your appetite for entrees, tuck into the equally delicious mains. The Pesto Chicken Pasta is a foodie delight, tossed with bite-size morsels of broccoli, fork-tender carrots, and melt in your mouth potatoes - all blanketed in Parmesan and finished with a dash of cream.
Room for more? Try the Meatzaa pizza which comprises BBQ chicken chorizo, jalapenos, and olives. Vegetarians can opt for the Mexican Green Wave pizza, which comprises broccoli, crunchy onions, crispy bell peppers, juicy tomato, and jalapenos.
If you're looking for something to sip with your meal or want to indulge a bit, Café We has got you covered with its Fresh Lemon and Mint Mojito, The Fruity Blast, and Fresh Coconut Water.
Even though the food and drinks will alone ensure you have a fantastic time, the sweetest way to end the day is with the Deconstructed Apple and Black Currant Pie. Just like a hug to your soul, this dessert is served with tender apple chunks and sweet cinnamon baked and topped with a classic sugary crisp and layered between oven dried apple slices.
[The cafe has still not received the liquor license, so a fully functional bar is out of question for now; the good news though is that they can still host large parties and serve alcohol for 6 hours at a stretch (courtesy: 1-day liquor license). Their delivery service has still not started; that said, you can still opt for takeouts at any time of the day between 11 A.M. to 11 P.M.!]
Call it an elegant diner if you may, the laid-back yet chic ambiance of Café We will appeal as much as the deliciously curated menu.
If I had to describe the cuisine of Café We in mere three words, I would choose innovative, honest, and stimulating. Innovative, because here you can expect good old traditional specialties with a twist. Honest, because they buy all ingredients from well-known and trusted sources. Stimulating, well, you'll need to come over and decide for yourself!
