In this blog post, I cover Cicchetti by Mr. Beans, a Progressive Modern European - Italian Cuisine Restaurant in DLF CyberHub Gurgaon.
In Venice, Bacari stands for a bar where you can drink wine and eat typical Venetian snacks and side dishes called Cicchetti (spelled 'Shi-ke-tti'). Bacari isn't used for any 'normal' restaurant serving full meals.
Now that we know the exact definition of Bacari and Cicchetti, let's shift your attention from the by-lanes of enchanting Venice to the more familiar gourmet destination of CyberHub Gurgaon.
Why would you want to open a new fine dining outlet and call it Cicchetti? This probably wasn't 'obvious' right off the bat, but the more time I spent there, the more I began to realize why.
Cicchetti aims to bring the Bacari culture to India, albeit with a twist. The restaurant has given a gourmet makeover to the Venetian small plates. Design a full meal by ordering multiple portions, which are primarily small servings of typical full-course plates. Usually accompanied by a glass of local wine, colloquially termed as an 'Ombra', Cicchetti provides a great setting for cultural and social bonhomie.
Cicchetti by Mr. Beans is a brainchild of the ambitious husband-wife duo, Abhimanyu and Neha Singh.
Both are well traveled, successful restaurateurs - with a popular chain of restaurants (by the name of Mr. Beans) to boast of!
Cicchetti by Mr. Beans is a modern yet fun take on the classic Italian bistro, offering a cozy haven for friends and family. The restaurant draws inspiration from an old Venetian tradition that goes back to the early 13th century. In those days, every wine bar in Venice tried to lure customers into staying a lil longer by adding small snacks and side dishes to their bar menu. The idea to keep the conversation going was gradually lost in time but with the evolution of Tapas in Spain, the small courses of Cicchetti sections consisting of cheese board/ bread/ jam came back to life again over house wines and cocktails. And that's where the restaurant picked up its name from!
Cicchetti's eclectic menu is curated by Chef Neha Singh, who is an alumnus of the Glion Hotel School, Switzerland. Her style is very interactive owing to authentic techniques, masterful styling and an array of cooking skills that are truly international.
Chef Neha believes in spending hours to create an extraordinary dish in every regard, rather than rushing into something that's merely excellent. She carries on the vision to create a good plate by starting from authentic ingredients. Cicchetti is a beautiful outcome of her many years of hard work and aspiration.
She is ably assisted by the awesome team of Chef Abhishek Sehgal and Chef Ramesh Kumar; together they continue to be at the helm of affairs in the kitchen. Every dish on the menu is handpicked while keeping the significance of fresh produce and locally sourced ingredients in mind.
My favorite signature dishes at Cicchetti include Smoking Cheese Dome, Egg Plant Ravioli in Tomato Consommé, Poached Chicken Quenelles in Mustard Sabayon, Almond Crusted Fish, Lamb Shanks with Polenta, Potato Leek Soup, Chocolate Salami, and Vanilla Bean and Coconut Pannacotta with Fresh Raspberry Sorbet.
Backed by an excellent service, Cicchetti is keeping its promise of delivering quality at an accessible price point. The menu is detailed yet exciting. By including cheese board, a delicious selection of small plates, soul-satisfying main courses as well as delicious desserts, Cicchetti holds your interest way till the end.
Each dish is beautifully plated with proper attention to details. The emphasis is on fresh, innovative and affordable offerings, with the use of authentic ingredients.
Nestled in the bustling DLF CyberHub in Gurgaon, Cicchetti by Mr. Beans is an amalgamation of old-world charm and modern contemporary finesse. With a total capacity of 70 covers (40 indoors and 30 outdoors), Cicchetti offers a warm, intimate fine dining space adorned with worn down mirrors, fabric lights, and mud-colored Italian stones on the floor, transporting you to the side lanes of Venice. Each corner oozes a European simplicity, providing a unique blend of the Venice bar culture.
The beverage menu is where you'll discover the art of wizardry in mixology. Molecular gastronomy is used to create variations in textures, an element of surprise and drama for the guests. Molecular mixology brings science to the shaker to create new flavors and textures, enhancing the overall experience. The award-winning coffee menu includes a wide range of Signature Hot and Cold Coffees. Other offerings for the teetotallers are Gourmet Tea like Café Frappe, Cafe Pasha, Cinnamon Macchiato, and Jasmine Mandarin Tea.
It's so true that good things come in small packages and Cicchetti has definitely reasserted my belief through new-age techniques and culinary gastronomic goodness, both in complete harmony!
