In this blog post, I cover TCK by The China Kitchen, a new fine dining restaurant in DLF CyberHub Gurgaon that aims to promote authentic street style cuisine from Beijing.
If you're someone like me who appreciates the lil joys that come with international travel, you'd most probably agree that no overseas journey can ever be considered 'complete' without interacting with the natives, trying a hand at their local cuisine, and taking a deep dive into the arts and culture scene that place has to offer. Since most of my travels are experiential in nature, being open-minded and friendly really helps!
My love affair with China goes way back to 2009 - 2010. As part of my MBA program, I had to spend a few weeks at the City University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen Research Institute. Even though technically speaking Hong Kong is very much a part of China, it's not hard to tell the differences between the two.
For some quaint reason, whenever I think about China, I instantly get reminded about the Beijing street fare. The street food in Beijing is a revelation and now Hyatt Regency Delhi endeavors to recreate the magic of Beijing with the launch of TCK by The China Kitchen in DLF CyberHub Gurgaon.
The 80-seat restaurant, which opened up its door last year in December, is a joint collaboration between two leading entrepreneurs Amritesh Jatia (Non-Executive Director of Asian Hotels (North) Limited) and Abhishek Khaitan (Managing Director of Radico Khaitan Limited, one of the largest spirit companies). Together, they bring to you TCK by The China Kitchen under the aegis of Experimental Restaurants Private Limited.
The restaurant combines traditional elements of a Chinese house with contemporary and chic décor. The quirky design is based on the concept of 'dining around the kitchen' ... only transparent glasses separate you and the kitchen staff and it seems like this has been purposely done so you can get a bird's-eye view of a Peking duck oven, a permanent feature at the restaurant. Then there's the dumpling and noodle station, steamer, and dessert station, to boast of!
What also caught my attention was the interactive stage where bartenders and chefs create magical cocktails and desserts. All these elements put together give the restaurant an edge, making TCK the most luxurious venue to relax and indulge.
With TCK by The China Kitchen, Hyatt Regency Delhi has become one of the first Hyatt hotels in India to explore the standalone restaurant format. Chef Jack Aw Yong, who has curated TCK's menu, has successfully opened many popular restaurants across the world and with the launch of this opulent, plush restaurant, he aims to introduce authentic Beijing street fare to one and all.
A team of three expat chefs headed by Chef Zhang Hong Sheng presents a stunning menu consisting of a diverse spread of culinary classics such as Peking Duck, Gongbao Chicken, Braised Tofu and Broccoli, Mini Pumpkin and Barbecue Veg Puff, and Spicy Mapo Tofu amongst others.
Not to forget, the mocktails are absolutely drool-worthy as well! Go for the Ginger and Orange Illusion (made from ginger, mint, and orange juice) or the Thai Summer Dream (made from Grenadine and Pineapple). Another favorite is the Passion Fruit Iced Tea with Mocha Foam and Sea Salt.
Situated on the ground level, TCK by The China Kitchen is spread across 3,000 sq ft of space and can host up to 80 guests at any given time. The atmosphere is lively, with the buzz coming from the diners and the action from the show kitchens.
So what are you waiting for? A premium dining experience awaits you at the TCK by The China Kitchen - an amalgamation of vibrant ambiance and culture.
