Why A Visit To Nimba Nature Cure Village Will Restore The Natural Balance Of Your Mind, Body, And Soul
In this blog post, I cover Nimba Nature Cure Village, premium naturopathy and holistic wellness retreat in Gujarat, India.
It's that time of the year again when we bid adieu to the year gone by. On a personal note, 2019 was fantastic on all counts. A year of travel and adventure hands down - from partnering with a leading state tourism board early on to visiting Spain for promoting Madrid as a 7-star destination - I enjoyed living out of a suitcase.
And just when I thought I was done with all the traveling for this year, I was invited to experience one of the largest naturopathy centers in Gujarat by the name of Nimba Nature Cure Village. The visit took place in the last week of November.
For the uninitiated, Nimba offers a unique residential program in Naturopathy, Ayurveda and Panchakarma, Yoga and Meditation, Diet and Nutrition, Physiotherapy and other special therapies.
In 2016, Nimba was recognized as the Best Nature and Wellness Center of Gujarat.
The same year, Nimba was also adjudged the proud winner of the ASSOCHAM Award for Premier Naturopathy and Wellness Retreat.
Located on the busy Ahmedabad-Mehsana Express Highway, just an hour drive from the Ahmedabad Domestic Airport, Nimba Nature Cure is a unique facility owned by the Oswal Group, operating under the aegis of Mr. Jayant Bokadia, CEO of the retreat since October 2015.
Nimba - Your Window to Overall Wellness and Healing
A visit to Nimba will most likely be the first step you'll take to restore the natural balance of your mind, body, and soul. The integrated health care center, which focuses on your overall wellness and healing, is built with the vision of reducing over-dependence on medicine for treatments.
More often than not, allopathic or science-based, modern medicine will only treat or suppress the symptom or the ill effect of a disease. If the root cause of the disease is not addressed or acknowledged, the symptom will rear its ugly head again, making you feel miserable. It's a vicious trap really, and the sooner you understand, the better!
Nimba offers totally non-invasive, drugless treatments, by leveraging modern medical advancements, ancient medical techniques, and contemporary and international therapies, combining the benefits of Nature Cure with Yoga, Meditation, Disciplined Lifestyle, etc. It doesn't matter what therapy you undergo, you'll never complain of any side effect whatsoever!
Why Nimba?
Going back to our roots, the Sanskrit name 'Nimba' was derived from the term 'Nimbati Syasthyamdadati' which means to provide good health.
The Nimba logo embraces the concept of 'healing through nature', by using our own 'life force' and inner protective mechanism.
Essentially, Nimba operates on three core principles.
What sets Nimba apart, in my opinion, is the experienced team of doctors, professional therapists, and support staff.
The qualified practitioners at Nimba work on your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels to ascertain the root cause of the actual problem.
The humble and dedicated team ensures that not only are your ailments cured but you are kept motivated to follow practices of Naturopathy to lead a balanced and disciplined life. Nimba hospitality is truly topnotch!
Infrastructure
Spread across a 100-acre lush green landscape, Nimba is the largest Naturopathy, Ayurvedic, Yoga and Meditation, and Physiotherapy Center in Western India, offering the perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life and helping you connect with your inner self.
Unlearning and Relearning at Nimba
Nimba is unlike any other health resort or wellness destination you'll ever visit, I kid you not! A day at Nimba is action-packed with therapies, consultations, and exercises. And if you're wondering how your daily routine or dincharya will look like, I urge you to visit https://www.nimba.in/dincharya/.
Nimba operates on a strong belief that 'nature can cure any disease' -- and let me just add here, at a relatively lesser cost than another system of medicine.
According to Dr. Shyamaraja Nidugala, Chief Medical Officer at Nimba, our body comprises a distinctive blend of three types of energies, which the Ayurveda describes as 'Doshas'. How these energies interact with each other denotes your nature (Prakriti), health, and well-being at large.
Dr. Nidugala believes that if you can understand the nature of your body (Vata, Pitta, and Kapha), it becomes relatively easier to attain good health and maintain it.
My consultation with Dr. Nidugala was pretty elaborate as he focused on doing a body nature analysis (which he terms as holistic, 'purna') followed by a disease analysis.
Due to the complexity of the human body, the doctor needs to know your breathing pattern, mental/psychic state, emotional state, intellectual state, and state of your soul. The doctor will also perform a Nadi Pariksha or pulse diagnosis, before recommending the best therapy for you.
First Few Days At Nimba
The initial few days at the center will truly test your willpower more than anything else. You'll be expected to quickly adapt to this new way of living by making significant lifestyle changes. I'll illustrate this with examples.
If you're high on caffeine, for instance, no tea or coffee will be served inside the premises. Also, as a practice, smoking, drinking alcohol, or drugs of any kind are strictly prohibited too.
If you're fond of meat, do not expect any non-vegetarian food items here; ditto for fried food options.
You will be served nutritious Sattvic food every day; some dishes will be served additionally on the recommendation of an expert; the sooner you develop a liking for it, the better.
[Sadly, there are no cheat days at Nimba; you'll need to acclimatize to this new lifestyle quickly!]
Your daily dose of Sattvic diet includes:
Here are some excerpts from her interview.
Here a few recommendations from Dr. Harshana w.r.t what you can include in your daily diet.
Your dinner menu would contain peanut chutney, drumstick leaves sorba, methi chapati, grated salad, galka gravy, and okra dry veg (total calories - 432 kcal).
Limited Access to the Internet
What I found particularly refreshing at the center was the limited access to the Internet. It was a complete digital detox for me - no emails, no Instagram, no Facebook, nothing - And needless to say, I loved it!
Plus the soothing, immersive and tranquil surroundings were like the perfect icing on the cake!
Packages
Staying at Nimba covers your medical consultation, psychological counseling, prescribed treatments and therapies, customized wellness diet plan, and accommodation with all modern amenities and facilities.
There are three types of rooms available at Nimba - Super Deluxe, Deluxe, and Semi Deluxe.
Nimba offers comfortable 4-star accommodation, replete with modern amenities like the air conditioner, safe locker, LCD TV, etc.
Depending on what specific treatment you visit Nimba for, you still have the option to choose from the following packages.
Highlights
As far as I'm concerned, there were a lot of positives I left with, especially world-class therapies that truly resonated with me.
Crystal Healing
Learn the art of healing others via energies, without even touching the person. To walk me through the process of Crystal Healing, I had the pleasure of spending some time with Dr. Sanskriti Kurre, an energy healer at Nimba, who specializes in Reiki, hypnotherapy, etc. to cure imbalance(s) within your body. FYI if the imbalance is not cured, it can manifest into any type of emotional, physical, or stress-related disease.
A vast majority of patients who consult Dr. Kurre are those who report issues related to anger, depression, etc. A 1.5-hour hypnotherapy session that Dr. Kurre performs on her patients helps erase a painful past from their memory forever. Before the therapy, however, she must understand whether the person is physically or emotionally driven.
Intrigued by everything that Dr. Kurre had told me, I requested her to perform a 45-minute Crystal Healing Session on me, just so I could understand the modalities involved.
Holding crystals may trigger physical, emotional, or spiritual healing, as crystals are known to positively interact with your body's energy fields or chakras. While some crystals are said to alleviate stress, others purportedly improve creativity or concentration.
Dr. Kurre also performs pranic healing which checks, cleanses, and rejuvenates the patient.
Raga Therapy
This new therapy leverages the knowledge of using raga or music to heal. Dr. Sucheta Rakhshit performs this powerful therapy on patients to reduce stress, control diabetes, reduce high blood pressure, decrease depression, and address other health issues.
Dr. Rakhshit recommends that you listen to the music for the advised time using a headphone. In 'operative recovery' cases, music therapy is given to patients twice a day, that is, in the morning and evening.
The room should be dark when the therapy begins; if that is not possible, then cover your eyes with a dark-colored eye band.
Raga is a yoga system wherein a sequence of selected notes or swaras offer appropriate emotion in a selective combination. A raga is capable of intensifying an emotion.
Dr. Rakhshit is a trained Raga Therapist and she uses a combination of ragas to cure patients. Personally speaking, I loved the melody of Raga Jogiya, Bhairavi, Malhar, and Darbari.
Yoga and Meditation
It is a known fact that yoga and meditation help to balance and detoxify the mind, body, and soul. Meditation gufas are specially built for you to relax, reflect, and recharge, helping you connect with your soul.
If you're fond of Yoga, you can connect with Dr. Poonam Rangoliya. One session you must ask Dr. Rangoliya to conduct is the Pool Zumba, which isn't just a way to have fun while you burn calories but also an effective alternative to traditional water aerobics.
A Visit To Gaushala
Gaushalas are protective shelters for cows. A walking distance away from the retreat is a quaint lil Gaushala, which houses both cows and buffaloes. Here the focus is on treating these animals well.
I loved spending time with the cows at the Gaushala; they were friendly and even posed for a photo-op. The milk from the cows at this Gaushala is consumed by the guests and staff at Nimba.
I even tried my hand at pottery, near the Gaushala.
Final Words
Naturopathy is truly a way of life. Visit Nimba for rejuvenation, detoxification, or treatment of disorders.
Let us support them to build a holistic ecosystem for spreading awareness about Naturopathy and other alternative methods of treatment.
