In this blog post, I offer you 5 ways to stay healthy and protected.
Life of a freelance writer in today's time is challenging. Trying to work multiple projects from home on unforgiving deadlines every day while taking care of loved ones who seek your undivided attention, that's the story of my life right now. Step into my world for a day, and you'll realize how I barely manage to get everything in order.
Does any of this sound familiar to you, now that most of you are also working remotely?
Even before this pandemic reared its ugly head and sucked the living life out of us, I was working from home as a freelance writer. Earlier I used to find time from my demanding schedule to step out and meet new and exciting people. It's funny how I never fully understood what it meant to be completely free ... until now that is!
Considering that the lockdown just got extended, let me offer you 5 ways to stay healthy and protected.
- Eat right - It's an absolute no-brainer that you need to take much better care of your overall well-being right now. You just cannot afford to fall ill during this lockdown. Stick to a healthy diet by eating food with less oil. Fruits rich in Vitamin C are the best. Don't forget to drink lots of fluids especially, since summer is here. Obviously, junk food is a big no-no, how big the craving maybe!
Strawberries and Blueberries Vegetable Salad My personal favorite is Ensure, which gives complete and balanced nutrition, helping you to stay strong and healthy. It is the source of key nutrients like proteins, anti-oxidants, zinc that play an essential role in immune health. - Follow a regular fitness routine - Start your day with 30 to 45 minutes of yoga or any light exercise that suits your body type. There are several free home workout videos on YouTube (like Athlean-x), where you can learn from personal trainers and fitness coaches. In case you have access to a staircase, climbing up and down can also be a great exercise.
Follow a regular fitness routine - Take care of your mental health - I cannot emphasize enough how crucial it is to surround yourself with positivity during these unprecedented times. It is okay to feel fear, anxiety, sadness, anger and even helplessness; trust me, this too shall pass! Give no more than 30 minutes for news reading or watching because a massive influx of bad news doesn't help your mental state of mind in any way. In fact, too much bad news can actually make you sick!
Take care of your mental health - Maintain proper hygiene - Washing hands every few minutes and cleaning things everywhere should be a mandate, not a choice anymore. If you have come home from buying groceries, vegetables, fruits, etc., then make sure you sanitize your hands on return. It may feel tedious but necessary during these times to stay protected.
Maintain proper hygiene - Plan for Some 'Me Time' - Having a forced 'downtime' isn't necessarily evil. Use this time to pursue a hobby. Practice meditation, cook your favorite dish, or simply do some facetime with your long-lost friends. Cherish the lil joys; after all, there is so much in the world to be thankful for!

So as you can see, there is a method to my madness. I hope you find these 5 ways to stay healthy and protected in India useful. May the force be with you!

DeleteThis lockdown forced me to move back to my home for some undefined time. However, life is not the same here. But yes, I have tried to structure a little bit. Changed my diets and started a routine walk of around 5km everyday. Not sure how long it will be.
